Parents often ask us why they should choose Christian education? Is Christian education inherently better than public school? For your children, there are few decisions more important than those related to education. At Haywood Christian Academy, we are committed to training Christian leaders by providing an excellent educational experience on a foundation of Biblical truth. We believe in Christ-centered education.

We are convinced that the Bible is the foundation of all knowledge and that your children will benefit from a learning environment centered on God's word. In this post, we will discuss a few important reasons parents should choose Christian education. This is not an exhaustive list, so if you have additional questions, we invite you to contact us or to schedule a tour of our school.

Christian Education Develops a Biblical Worldview

Worldview is the lens through which a person sees the world. The way you interpret reality and make sense of the mysteries of life is filtered through your worldview. Whether you believe in one God, many gods or no deity at all will determine how you view your neighbors, job, family, and purpose. One of the primary goals for Christian educators is helping their students view the world through the lens of the truth of God's world. Key truths affirmed by a Biblical worldview include:

  • God is eternal and His character never changes.
  • There is one God, eternally existent in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. who exists as three distinct persons.
  • God created the world and everything in it.
  • God created people in His image.
  • God is just and there are consequences for disobedience.
  • All people have sinned and fallen short of the standard God set.
  • God promised to and did indeed send Jesus to live as a human, but without sin, to die as a substitute for our sin. God sent His son Jesus to live on earth, being fully God and fully man, yet without sin. He died on a cross to bridge the gap created by the sin of all mankind.
  • Though Jesus died for the sins of all, He conquered death and, after three days, rose from the grave. He sits at the right hand of the Father as our intercessor.
  • Everyone who accepts Christ through faith in Jesus' sacrificial death and triumphant resurrection has eternal life.
  • Jesus will return to fulfill His purpose as the conquering King. set all things right.

Filtered through a biblical worldview, all subjects have a deeper meaning because they do not neglect the Truth, which is offered in scripture. The gospel helps students make sense of some of the darkest moments in history. The anguish of injustices and poor human choices often expressed in literature can lead Christian students to appreciate the cross in a new light. Christian education helps establish a Biblical worldview in your child while he or she is still young, so they are he is prepared to answer hard questions and navigate challenges well throughout his or her life.

We want your children to learn the love of Christ, the forgiveness for sin offered through the gospel, and the freedom afforded those who walk in obedience to God. Our teachers are committed to excellence in education for every subject, but there is also a deep commitment to mentoring the heart of each student.
