We're building a gym and need your help!

productive junior yearWestern North Carolina is an area committed to quality academics. Many juniors and seniors in Haywood County are thinking about what to do beyond high school. They are considering whether to go straight to a four-year college or university or if they should attend community college and earn an associate degree first. There is a lot to do to prepare for college. From applications and tests to extra-curricular activities and spending time with family, the last two years of high school can feel like a blur for stressed teenagers. It may be even more of a blur for parents who are trying to keep up with all their juniors and seniors have to complete while trying to spend as much time as possible with them before they enter a new phase of life.

For Haywood Christian Academy high school students, we want to emphasize the importance of spiritual growth as well as academic rigor in preparation for college and beyond. Our students spend their high school years preparing their hearts and minds, as well as their souls for the next phase of life.

Preparing for College in Haywood County, NC

Our High School program at HCA is designed to help students develop mature skills of reasoning, expression, research, and problem-solving that will prepare them well to succeed in collegiate environments. We have a key partnership with Haywood Community College that enables students to dual enroll during their Junior and Senior years to simultaneously earn high school and college credits.

Additionally, your teenager will need to make sure they check off several important parts of their college prep list, including:

  • Establishing a daily devotional time with the Lord
  • Earning the highest GPA possible
  • Becoming comfortable using a calendar
  • Taking and retaking the ACT or SAT
  • Checking in with their guidance counselors
  • Filling out FAFSA and scholarship applications
  • Visiting schools and practicing college essays

To graduate from Haywood Christian Academy a student must earn the required number of credits and fulfill 40 hours of community/cultural service - 8 hours of community service and 2 hours of cultural service per high school year. Additionally, our Biblical studies program includes Apologetics, the History of Christianity and Systematic Theology. We want to make sure your student is prepared to see how Christianity and the Gospel answer the hardest questions in life.
