When you take a moment to consider whether to send your child to private school or not, there are probably many questions that come to mind, as well as media-driven stereotypes.

Maybe you and your child are transitioning into Kindergarten, Middle School, or High School, and you desire to provide the best learning environment you can for your growing student. Maybe you’ve run across this blog by accident and it has ignited a newfound interest.

It's almost that time of year again, with students returning to school both physically and virtually! Even if you have done the routine time and time again, it never hurts to be up to date on what you as a parent can do to make that return a little easier.

Summer in the mountains is the best time of year for many families. 

With schools out for a few months, it is an opportunity to spend quality time together. There is so much to explore in western North Carolina; you couldn't possibly do it all in a single summer. 

The warm summer months are exactly the right time to see and do as much as you can. Being at a higher elevation than other parts of the state, we do get a break from the most extreme heat. However, there will be some days and weeks that you and your family will need to find some ways to beat the heat. Fortunately, there are plenty of opportunities to do that around here as well. 

Here are a few of our favorite ways for families to cool off during the summer. 

The 2020-2021 school year is drawing to a close. It has been a long, strange year in western North Carolina. Many students in Haywood County had to navigate remote learning for significant portions of the year. Parents often felt like the primary educators for their children, while they were also figuring out how to work from home. As we begin to return to normal, parents and students are breathing a sigh of relief. 

When the final bell rings, it can be tempting to put away all books and learning for the remainder of summer, however, education never really takes a break. It is vital that parents help their kids continue learning throughout the summer. Here are a few tips to keep your child's mind engaged during the break. 

There are a lot of things to love about western North Carolina. The Asheville area is by far the largest metropolitan region in the mountains of North Carolina. That gives locals access to a host of conveniences and amenities while we also get to enjoy one of the most beautiful areas in the South. While Haywood County is relatively rural, we are close enough to the city to have access to all that makes the Asheville area unique. In addition to the optimal location, Haywood County has great schools, many wonderful teachers and exceptional educational opportunities. 

While we do have great public schools, many parents are searching for alternatives to traditional public education. If you are researching private schools, here are seven questions you want to ask.
